For anyone bemoaning the lack of serious film roles for African Americans today, I have two words for you: Soul Plane. (00:33)

i think the same is true if you go see an african american casted movie. if there is a white or asian or hispanic person in the film that person tends to be "type-casted" too. if there even is a person of another ethnicity in the film!

i think it depends on the producers and studios. but, i'm not understanding the statement...jaleel do you think african american movie makers are responsible or non-african american movie makers?

who's being type-casted?

It doesn't matter what producers, or whomever is responsible. The fact of the matter is that the system of Hollywood will only accept stereotypical versions of ethnic people. Whether these people who are in power are black or white, really doesn't matter, unless you want to throw responsibility on someone's race for messing up themselves, which I'm sure you want to. Either way, we know that Hollywood isn't controlled by blakc people, that's a fact. So, I guess we know who is really responsible. lol.
